Introduction to Business
Prerequisite: Technology Applications recommended

The major purpose of this year course is to provide students the skills needed to effectively organize, develop, create, and manage a business. Students will learn the significance of math, reading, writing, and communicating to their future within the framework of operating a small business. They will understand how the market economy and ownership leads to wealth creation. Students will learn not only the skills necessary to become a successful business person but also the attitudes, characteristic, and techniques needed to succeed. They will learn to be able to save and make future investments in order to meet their financial goals in life. Students will build analytical skills through solving complex problems and making sound decisions in order to produce a viable business.
Emphasis is placed on the functions of business management: organization, management, finance, marketing, information technology, product/service management, distribution, promotion, and selling. Additional topics to be addressed are the government's role in a business, the assessment of personal skills, the components of the free enterprise system and its place in our global economy, human relations and interpersonal skills, career planning, the importance of business ethics, and the role quality and service play in business.
Business Leadership and Management

This course provides business management concepts and principles in a realistic, investigative, and enriching manner. All the functions of business management are covered extensively, including the use of technology and communication as tools of business. This course is designed to make students aware of the concepts and skills required for success in today’s marketplace. This course provides a wealth of practical applications that will connect you to the business world. Extensive coverage of finance, marketing, production, and management allows you to explore foundations of business operations while topics such as ethics, economics, career planning, and technology take you beyond the basics. Activities encourage career and college planning; prepare students for post-secondary Business courses and successful participation in the Future Business Leaders of America’s competitive events and projects. Team building and project management is integrated throughout, as well as current events and accountability.
Internship
Prerequisite: Instructor Approval
This course is designed to have students mentor/tutor students at our local elementary schools or to have our students working at a business within the community. This course is designed with one goal in mind: to prepare our students to be College and Career Ready. Students will learn job etiquette, problem solving, responsibility, people/social skills, and the importance of punctuality and attendance. With exceptional assessment tools,detailed occupation profiles, and comprehensive post-secondary education information, students will move seamlessly through the career exploration and planning process.

This course will provide a general introduction to computers and an in-depth look at Microsoft Office . The importance of computer literacy topics such as hardware, software, operating systems, programming languages, data communications, the applications of software and information systems. Emphasis will be placed on PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Publisher, Word and Outlook. Students will be given the opportunity to receive their IC3 Certification as well as several other Microsoft Office Certifications. This course is designed to enhance students computer literacy skills, enabling them to be successful in their after high school endeavors, whether it be college or out into the workplace.

Prerequisite: Technology Applications 1
The course will provide students with an in-depth look at the advanced features of Microsoft Office Software, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Outlook, and the Adobe Create Cloud Suite. Students will be given the opportunity to receive their Microsoft Office Certifications, with the possibility of becoming a Microsoft Office Master or Trainer, as well as Adobe Certifications.
